Last January, we launched a strategic planning process for KU called Initiative 2015. Three task forces were created – Teaching and Learning, Discovery and Innovation, and Working for Kansas. During the spring, more than 60 faculty, staff and students from throughout the university met to discuss these key issues and draft recommendations for addressing them.
In April, the task force co-chairs submitted their reports to me, Executive Vice Chancellor Barbara Atkinson and Provost/Executive Vice Chancellor Richard Lariviere. That document is now available on-line at http://www.ku.edu/~oirp/planning/ along with a narrative summary that groups the recommendations by theme.
I invite faculty and staff to review the documents and submit feedback to http://www.ku.edu/~oirp/planning/ by early June. This summer, I will work with members of the leadership team to determine priorities that reflect the Initiative 2015 recommendations. In some cases, work is already under way. In others, implementation work groups will be formed to develop specific action plans.
At the Faculty and Staff Convocation in the fall, I will focus on Initiative 2015, reporting on actions taken or planned. I look forward to briefing you more fully then.
